9 min 53 sec

Yay, I ran my mile in less than 10 minutes on Saturday. I am so proud of myself! I didn't lose the 10 pounds I wanted to by the end of February, but I did lose 6 and I'm still fitting into pants I haven't worn in a long time. The 10 minute mile is clearly another step in the right direction. Next stop: 9 minutes!!! Or maybe 2 miles in 20 minutes, that would be a trick for sure. Running the mile my heart rate did get up to 170 beats per minute which is almost 90% of my max. So what I'd like to do is keep running at around that rate until I can maybe get my HR to stay down around 165 or so the whole time. I've started swimming too, and my goal there is to swim more than 2 laps without having to take a break, gasping for breath :)

So aside from that, I have been feeling a little weird about things. After my fake out period last time I just can't get comfortable. I have been feeling a little nauseated today for no apparent reason and even stranger is that my period seems to be lingering still, for the 6th day now. This is completely unusual since the last hundred or so have been 2-3 days max. So I am going out of my mind wondering what is going on and I am going to have to take a pregnancy test now just to be sure… especially since we are going to VEGAS on Friday! So stay tuned!

I'm excited FOR you. It feels so good to reach goals like that. And even better after you surpass them and then start thinking about new, even-more-challenging goals. Keep us updated. Have you changed your diet at all as well or are you just kicking butt in the exercise department?

I still haven't tried the 500-calorie workout. I only worked out twice last week. Argh. I worked out this morning with Jillian Michaels, though. :)

Ask my mom for some tips on swimming, if you want. :) She seriously swims like 80 laps. I don't know how she does it. I am always impressed.

I do need tips on swimming. When I do the crawl, water gets in my ears when I turn to breathe and it is really annoying and distracting. I guess ear plugs would be an option, maybe I'll get some.

I have totally changed my diet. I am obsessive about entering everything I eat into this program I have called FitDay. It also has a place to enter what exercise you did, and a few other features that I don't personally use. It takes some time to enter in some of the foods that aren't already included in the database that comes with it. But if you're like me, and you end up eating the same things quite a bit, it's not hard at all.

So depending on my goal (which you can set up in the program), I aim for burning an average of 500-800 more calories per day than I eat. It's simple math, 3500 calories a week is a pound lost. But you have to be honest with yourself.
