I have been really grumpy the last couple of days. I am just in a terrible mood, it sucks. I think part of it has something to do with the paranoia creeping back. I am so frustrated not knowing what is going on in there – I need a concrete validation that things are moving along as they should. I still have 3 more weeks until my next Dr.’s appointment, and really not much to expect until then to set my mind at ease. I am ready for it to start moving so I can keep tabs on it! I guess this is pretty much what I can expect from motherhood, worrying about my child’s well being, huh?
Eric and I went to Babies R Us this weekend, just for fun. It was interesting to hear Eric’s point of view on the various baby items. We walked around and mostly looked at all the major stuff like strollers and cribs and car seats and swings. Eric’s policy on those is that they have to be gender neutral so we can use them again! Which makes sense I guess, but it really limits your choices. Having a huge husband also poses some interesting challenges. He is concerned about the changing table being tall enough for him, first of all. And we were trying out the rocking chairs and most of them are too small/narrow for him to be comfortable in (think Goldilocks & the 3 Bears!!). The bigger ones reclined and we didn’t like those because they seemed to recline for Eric whether he wanted them to or not.
I had a dream last night that it was here, and hungry all the time. I remember in my dream thinking, oh man she has eaten a lot and we haven’t changed a diaper in a REALLY long time! Note that it was a girl though. That’s the second time I have dreamed that it was a girl.

James and I had more fun registering for baby stuff than we did registering for wedding stuff. It took FOREVER and several trips, though. So much research is involved. We also went gender neutral for most of our bigger items, so we could use them again and again for all the children we decide to have (and are blessed with). Once we found out we were having a girl though, we went back and registered for girly stuff for her room (bedding, toys, etc.). You can still do a ton of gender-specific shopping after you get your gender-neutral bigger items.
Also, even when I started to feel the baby moving, I still worried. There were days when I felt NOTHING ALL DAY and I was convinced something was wrong. I called the doctor's office two different times for that very reason. Once I was like 28-34 weeks or so, she moved a ton all the time. Before and after that it was so sporadic. On days she wasn't as active, I'd poke her constantly, trying to get her to move. :) Not sure if that's mean or not.
I've had THREE dreams that I was pregnant in the past four days. One dream that my sis-in-law Amy was pregnant again. Geez. Clearly my internal clock is gearing itself up again for getting knocked up with #2! :)
Oh and in my opinion, you really really want a glider and ottoman. Out of all the things we got Emma, besides the crib/car seat obviously, we've used our glider/ottoman the MOST. I sit there every day before naptime and bedtime and we read stories. When she's sick, I go in there, get her out of her crib and snuggle her in the glider. I recline our glider at night so I can rest my head back and nap a little too. And obviously it was the BEST spot for the middle-of-the-night nursing sessions. It was a big expense (they're SO pricey, and we even got ours on clearance and mixed and matched fabric colors) but we don't regret it for one second. In fact, we're talking now about what we're going to do for #2 ... we still use the chair so much with Emma but we know we'll need one for a newborn so hmmm. Good luck with your search!
So you're having a girl! GREAT! ;)
we went gender neutral on almost everything. Actually, the only thing pink is a bouncy chair I got at a shower. Everything else is black or white or red (stroller). Oh ya, and a brown and turquoise pack n play.
There's a ton of gliders on craigslist (if you're into the whole recycled thing) - that's where we got ours from...and I LOVE sitting in that thing and it was only $50. I's been very handy. Late night feedings happen there...and I watch plenty of shows on my laptop when I'm nursing in the day time.
