Eric took Seth to his 6 month well baby visit. Growth is right on track. 18 lbs 15 oz which is 75th % ile. Height is 28" which is 90th, and head circumference is 18" which is also 90th. She said keep doing what we're doing with the solid food, try something new every 3 days or so. We were a little concerned about his skin - we have been dealing with a little rashy rash mainly behind his knees and under his chin. It seemed to have gotten worse over the weekend and she said it could have been the sunscreen. She said all the normal sunscreens are terrible with all kinds of irritating chemicals and recommended Vanicream instead. We got a handout on common sleep issues which reinforced what she said which is that a 6 month old does not need to be fed at night - or they should at least be able to go 8 hours. It's so weird because the handout talked mainly about sleep onset issues, i.e. inability to fall asleep without being rocked, jiggled, etc. Seth falls asleep on his own all the time, it's when he wakes up later that he flips out. The pacifier could be the key. The trouble is, I'm about as attached to it as he is. Not ready to give that up yet, but we'll see. I think his little tooth is really causing some problems right now because he's not napping that well either, so I'm going to hold off on doing anything drastic for a bit. Maybe things will just work themselves out.
Alriiiight, picture time! So as I mentioned, we went out to my dad's this weekend and Seth had a little blasty blast. Well, we all did. We dunked him in on Saturday in his new life jacket, but it didn't work too well because it was too big and basically just made him look really uncomfortable. And unfortunately I didn't have the camera. I choked again and didn't have the camera when we first put him in on Sunday in the float, but I ran and got it after the fact to get these.
Yay! Look at me! I love the water!
Warming up on a blanket, sucking on an ice cube in a washcloth, new favorite past time. He's not a huge fan of teething rings so far as I can tell. Eric calls them his chew toys. Whatever works I guess.
And just for fun, prune face!! I love how it looks like a little beard.
It's definitely been fun watching his reactions to food. His tastes seem to change from day to day. He went from hating avocado to just tolerating it. The first time he tried prunes he was so excited and gave me huge smiles. Then on Monday he was totally gagging on everything except rice cereal. Yesterday he was back in love with prunes but still grimacing about the avocado. I think tonight we're going to try some squash. Yum yum!
I have one more picture from this weekend that I want to share, but it looks so much like a picture of myself from when I was little, I have to find it and scan it in so I can put them side by side. He is 26 weeks today too, so I have to do a monkey pic too!

That second picture, the close-up one of him in his floaty thing ... oh my goodness it's almost freaky how much his eyes look like you. It's like looking into Manda's eyes, staring at that picture. SO MUCH like you. I want to see him again in person so badly! I need to snuggle him. And I want to see him and Kasey up next to each other again. Kasey's 15 lbs. 7 oz. right now. Miss you.
