Dear Seth,
You are 6 months old today. Happy Half Birthday!! Big news today, you've officially got a TOOF coming in! I can't exactly see it yet (mainly because your tongue is always in the way), but I can feel its sharp edge poking through. It's one of the textbook bottom middle front teeth and you have really been a champ about it. I could be wrong but I think by the time it comes through that far the worst is probably over. Right now you're laying on my bed next to me sucking on a wash cloth with an ice cube in it and you couldn't be happier.
Other big news, you started eating solid food this week. Oh wait, I guess I already mentioned that in a previous post. Oh well. Anyway, so far you've had rice cereal, mashed avocado, prunes, and applesauce. Just a tiny bit of the applesauce. And somehow your father managed to avoid changing a dirty diaper up until yesterday if you can believe that. Your number twos (and your toots) are certainly smelly these days. But as your Gramby predicted, it doesn't really gross me out as much as I thought it would. That's not to say I am not looking forward to flushing it down the toilet ASAP, but until then I guess I'll live.
This last weekend you got to take a little dip in the river up at Grandpa's house, boy was that fun! You panted and gasped a little when we first eased you into the water, but after a minute or two you seemed to be having fun, and splashed your hand a bit. When we pulled you out your diaper had swelled up to the size of a bowling ball, it was hilarious. I'm looking forward to enrolling in little shrimp swimming lessons at the YMCA!! You'll love that.
You are literally days away from crawling I think. You can scoot with your knees and on your hands, just not both at the same time. All it's going to take is a little energy and motivation and you'll do it. Tonight you had the motivation - my laptop - but it's pretty close to bedtime so I think you were just a little too tired, so you'd get started but then your head would just flop down on the bed. In the mean time you have basically figured out how to roll wherever you want to go. You almost rolled right off my bed tonight, I caught you just in time.
Your sleep is improving. You aren't necessarily sleeping longer, although this past Friday night you did basically sleep straight through from about 1:30am to 7:15am. I think it was a fluke, because since then it's been back to 2-3 hour stretches. I suppose I can't blame you if that tooth was coming in! But bedtime and naptime have gotten a lot easier. I feed you and then usually put you right down in your crib (awake) with a pacifier. You roll over on your tummy and either babble, whine, or cry until you fall asleep. If you are just talking or whining I leave you alone for as long as it takes. If you really start crying I still give you a few minutes and then come in and replace your pacifier and rub your back until you calm down. Lately I've only had to do this maybe once or twice before you give in and go to sleep. Bottom line, going to sleep is rarely a battle anymore, Oh Thank Heaven.
Well mama is tired, so I'll wrap this one up for now. Tomorrow we'll do a monkey picture since we skipped last week. And I'll post some pictures of your aquatic fun from the weekend at Grandpa's. You have your 6 month checkup in the morning too, so I'll have to give a full report on that, even though daddy is taking you while I am at work believe it or not!!!
Love, Mamama

Aw, a toof? So exciting. Pretty soon we'll be breaking out those boxes of crackers and buying stock in vacuum bags. Still no sign of break through in Adela's mouth.
I really don't see Adela getting any closer to crawling. She is not interested. She wants to stand or sit all the time. We're in trouble when they figure it out.
I love your Monkey pic idea. It's so cute to watch him get closer and closer to Monkey size.
And about the cat pee... Nature's miracle? I need to pick me up some of that apparently. I've tried 4 different cleaners on one carpet spot and it still smells. This is brand new carpet too. It literally makes me nauseous. Stupid cats. So, it really gets rid of the smell? Does it prevent the kitties from peeing in the same spot again?
