24 weeks!

How time does fly! Only 16 weeks to go, even 14 would be okay with me. I feel like there is soooo much to do in that short amount of time. Seth is moving A LOT now, off and on all throughout the day and night (at least at 4am when Ive woken up the last two nights). He is about the size of an ear of corn, and my uterus is the size of a SOCCER BALL. Wow! No wonder my one pair of maternity jeans are cutting off my circulation right now. Im going to need another pair, stat.

This weekend I think we might actually PAINT the babys room. So exciting! After yesterdays furniture discussion I regretfully informed Eric that he would probably be the one doing most of the painting while I supervise (and make snacks). Im actually a little bummed about that because I dont really mind painting much (and I am a bit of a control freak). Is it really a strict no-no or does it just depend on the paint? I thought I read somewhere that oil based and obviously lead paints were bad, but others werent a big deal. But on babycenter.com and americanpregnancy.org it still saysideally, get someone else to do it. Did you guys paint??

Hells yeah! I painted half my house in the past 3 months. And it's a big house.
It's lead based paint that is the big nono, and I don't think they even make that anymore. (Or if you have to scrape any paint in an old house you'd probably want to avoid that just to be on the safe side.) Oil based paint is questionable, but the regular water-based interior paint that you would be using is totally fine.
Just Drink lots of water and if you start to feel tight in your tummy, take a break. Baby girl has definitely let me know (frequently) when I'm overduing it. Just listen to baby and you're be fine.

From what my doc has said and what I've read, oil-based is a definite no-no but water-based paint is totally fine. And get a brand that is known for less of an odor or fast-drying, like Benjamin Moore or some Behr paints. I helped paint all of Emma's room but James repainted all of the furniture that needed touching up (she's got my old dresser from high school and it definitely needed refreshing). Just be sure to keep the room well-ventilated and to take breaks. If you start to feel at all woozy, then the baby feels it too. I plan to help paint Nursery #2 as well.

I think it's the early development months you are really supposed to avoid paint. I'd just say wear a mask if you do help or just get a low VOC paint.
